Luxury Decatur, GA Portrait Photographer
Decatur is full of charm, character, and beautiful places to make meaningful portraits.
Whether you're planning a wedding at the Historic DeKalb Courthouse, celebrating a milestone birthday, or updating your professional brand, your session should feel effortless and personal. I help busy people look and feel their best in front of the camera—with guidance, warmth, and results that feel like you.
Looking for a Decatur Location with Character?
Decatur offers a wide range of backdrops, which makes it a great choice for weddings, portraits, and milestone sessions. Here are some of my most recommended locations in the city and nearby unincorporated areas:
The Chapel on Sycamore
The Chapel on Sycamore is an intimate ceremony space with rich character. Indoor is dark and dramatic, requiring lighting expertise and thoughtful planning, to maintain the warm, rich colors without the photos being too dark. During the wedding recessional, the transition from indoor to outdoor photos can be challenging for newer photographers.
Historic DeKalb Courthouse
![]() | Often called the Old DeKalb Courthouse or the DeKalb History Center. Historic DeKalb Courthouse offers elegant stone architecture, tall windows, and soft natural light. It’s popular for weddings, but also makes a great backdrop for elegant portrait sessions. The interior marble and window light create a timeless look. |
Downtown Decatur Square
Brick textures, storefronts, and city energy make this a good fit for branding sessions, engagement portraits, and celebrations that want an urban backdrop.
Agnes Scott College
A strong option for both small and large weddings with its chapel and banquet hall. The campus also works well for portraits. A photo permit is required unless you are a student or staff.

Columbia Theological Seminary
| This peaceful campus is a hidden gem with its beautiful stone architecture, shaded walkways, and quiet corners that work well for couples, branding, and milestone portraits. | ![]() |
Woodlands Garden
A tucked-away garden space that works well for personal portraits, couples, and small family sessions.
East Decatur Station
Modern buildings, creative businesses, and strong lines make this area useful for contemporary portraits and professional sessions.
Mason Mill Park
Located in unincorporated Decatur. Open green space, wooded trails, and easy parking make this a favorite for families and relaxed milestone sessions.
Scott Park
Close to downtown with open green areas and walkable paths, helpful for shorter sessions and family portraits.
Wahoo! Grill or Parker’s on Ponce
Both are beautiful options for intimate dinners, client celebrations, or sessions that include a lifestyle feel. Wahoo Grill can host a full wedding. Parker's on Ponce is great for intimate dinners after an elopement.
Your home in Decatur
In-home and backyard sessions create some of the most personal portraits, especially for families, branding sessions, and milestone celebrations.
Types of Sessions I Offer in Decatur
Weddings
Whether you're planning a full-day wedding at the courthouse or an intimate ceremony at your church, I offer thoughtful photography that highlights the moments you’ll actually want to remember. I bring calm guidance, lighting expertise, and a plan that keeps your day smooth and joyful.
Birthday and Milestone Portraits
You’ve earned this moment. Whether it’s your 40th, 50th, or simply the year you decided to show up for yourself, these portraits are all about celebrating who you are right now. We can plan a vibrant studio session or a neighborhood shoot near downtown Decatur, depending on your style.
Family Portraits
You want something more than stiff poses and forced smiles. I specialize in relaxed, fun family photos filled with personality. Oakhurst, Woodlands Garden, or your own backyard are popular locations. I’ll guide you throughout the session so it's natural and fun.
Branding and Professional Portraits
If you're building a brand or refreshing your headshots, Decatur offers great options for modern, polished portraits. We can shoot indoors at your workspace or outdoors in walkable areas like Decatur Square or East Decatur Station, depending on the tone you want to set.
Couples and Anniversary Sessions
Some of my favorite images come from low-pressure, just-because sessions. Whether you're celebrating 10 years or still figuring things out together, we’ll find a quiet spot that feels like you. The goal is simple—images that reflect your connection without the awkward posing.
What to Expect
I make the process simple and personal. You’ll have help choosing a location, planning outfits, and feeling prepared. Most clients say they felt surprisingly comfortable and confident, even if they usually avoid the camera.
I also offer finished artwork that feels like it belongs in your home. Albums, wall art, and keepsakes that complete your session.
